Loved it! Once I started I couldn’t stop!
I read it and i loved the banters and how the story kept going i really loved it.
It was so good to go back to Briar University. As the start of a new series, this book had all the same charm as the Off Campus series without relying on past characters to carry the story.
The chemistry between Summer and Fitz was great. The banter, the attraction and sexual tension was spot on. It’s honestly one of the best opposites attract stories I’ve read.
It was absolutely impossible not to love Summer instantly. She was bubbly and sweet and her struggles struck a chord with me on such a deep level. She’s used to being judged on appearance alone but she strives to change people’s mind while staying true to herself. I just adored her.
It didn’t take me long to warm up to Fitzys character at all. The quiet nerd with his love for sports was completely shaken up and caught off guard by Summer. He fought his attraction so hard and in that process pulls some jerk moves, but he completely makes up for it in the long run.
This story was sexy and sweet, it put a smile on my face and stirred excitement for future books. Pretty much everything I enjoy in a NA series.
I absolutely love this series. Kennedy does not disappoint with The Chase.
I’ve read all the books from the series and this was my least favorite. I was excited about the length of the book but a lot of the contents in the story was the characters talking about their projects in their classes which I skipped through. Still a good read just was not as good as the others.
This book was just as good as the original Briar hockey series! I’m so excited for the next one!
Aurora H (Whoo Gives A Hoot)
When I discovered that Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus series was getting a spin off, Briar U I found myself leaping in excitement because I was sad when the original series came to an end! Those original four stories captivated my heart and I was ecstatic to see more from this group of friends, along with some new characters!
The Chase was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018 and let me say that Elle Kennedy certainly did not disappoint with the first book in this sure to be epic brand new series that fans of the Briar University universe have been craving. The author has once again given us a story filled with laughs, swoon-worthy moments and of course a ton of sexy times that had even our kindles melting from the heat that radiated off the pages. There was just so much to love about this story and I cannot freaking wait for the next installment.
I think that Summer and Fitz were the perfect couple to introduce this new series to both fans and newcomers because while we got to know both of them in the Off-Campus series, their story together didn't really begin to develop until the start of The Chase. Although this book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone I strongly recommend starting from the very beginning with The Deal because you are just going to fall in love with Elle Kennedy's characters and writing style! Trust me after you have read this story you are going to want to do so anyway!
Ever since I finished The Goal (the final book in the off campus series), I have been not so patiently waiting for The Chase. You see I fell in love with Elle’s writing during that series and the characters.
I have to say this spin off series does not disappoint so far! The storyline is very interesting. The characters are well developed. But, honestly what I loved most was the dialogue! There is something so fun about reading witty banter between characters, with well placed one liners that make a book really enjoyable.
I cannot wait until February 2019!!!
I know The Chase is one of the most anticipated reads this year for many people and let me tell you, Elle Kennedy did not disappoint! I loved Summer and Fitzy's story! It had all the things I love about the original Off Campus series - laughs, swoons, heart, emotion, and of course, sexy, sexy times! Briar U is a spin off series and though characters from the Off Campus series do appear, it can be read as a standalone.
Right from the start, I got some Pride & Prejudice vibes from Summer and Fitzy. There's no denying their attraction to each other, but will her pride and his prejudice stand in the way of their happily ever after? There were definitely times when both characters frustrated me with the push and pull, but as their histories are shared, it made a lot of sense why they were reacting and making the decisions that they were. On the surface, they couldn't be more different, but they also challenge and complement each other in many ways. Fitzy and Summer were much more than people perceived them to be and though it was very yin and yang at times, it definitely worked! I loved all the build up and anticipation (though the collateral damage of Hunter did hurt), and I was left with a huge smile on my face as I turned the last page.
One of my favorite things about this book though was Summer's friendship with Brenna. Those two were hilariously loyal and just so much fun! Summer and Brenna's lack of filters created some truly memorable moments and I especially loved their text messages to each other. I can't wait for Brenna's story in The Risk and that teaser excerpt at the end of the book couldn't have been more intriguing! I also was so happy to see little cameos by some of my favorite Briar guys and gals! I honestly will never tire of more Garrett or Tucker (swoon, swoon, swoon) and the little snippets of them in The Chase were perfect! Such an awesome start to this new series!
Wanting and chasing for what he cannot have, Fitzy finds himself enamored and enthralled with what is the sunshine that radiates from Summer in this compelling college romance...
Everyone who knows me, knows that my love for anything that is Elle Kennedy is immense. Especially when it comes down to the Briar boys that captivated my heart back in 2015 with their unique mindsets and creative personas. My god did I miss all my Briar boys and all their perspective partners. Thankfully Elle has made a combat with Fitzy and Summer's love story. A romance novel that is filled with angst, fulfilling lust, and so much compatibility between these two individuals that come from two totally different worlds. For Fitzy, fighting his attraction towards Summer, Dean Di Laurentis' younger sister, becomes a task that is beyond difficult for him since he ends up becoming her roommate after an unexpected turn of events.
Summer, being the sunshine individual that has always been, is also a fashion major who has been through a lot of trouble when transferring from one ivy league school to Briar U. Due to her learning disabilities, she ends up getting help from Fitzy and he ends up getting her help for inspiration when it comes down to his video game ideas. The obviously makes it obvious that Fitzy is a game designer major who also plays hockey for Briar U. How can one forget? The Briar boys have always had a special place in my heart when it comes down to college romances, and bless the soul of Elle for bringing them back in this novel. We get to see more of Tucker and Sabrina and their cutie little baby, which I am utterly obsessed with and want a story for her in the future as a Briar alumni.
When encountering upon difficulties of Fitzy truly admitting his feelings towards Summer, he knows that his time is running out because of a third party wanting to have Summer all to himself. That triggers a lighting bolt on Fitzy making him realize that no matter how much drama, how much momentum, how much enthusiasm and socialism Summer may have, he still craves her aurora and personality. This is what truly captives the reader for more of Elle's writing.
Overall, Fitzy and Summer are two individuals that are truly meant to be no matter the cost. And because Elle knows her readers so well, she introduces a new character who becomes Summer's new best friend; Brenda. That is the next story, The Risk. With a mysterious fella whom I kind of THINK know who it may be... And I am keeping my fingers crossed it is the individual who I want it to be because Brenda's story will be a wild ride. I am so glad to have read this novel, my craving for college romance is back and I need more!
